Playoff between Otake and Kobayashi Koichi held on the 23th August 1984. Otake won. Note that there was a four-way tie, but, as the Meijin rules state, only the two "top ranked" players ("top ranked" meaning higher positioned in the league according to the established order) compete in the playoff.
