Rin Kaiho, Born May 6, 1942 in Shanghai, China.
Protege of Go Seigen 9 dan who brought him to Japan in 1952.
First major title: 4th Meijin Title, 1965, defeating Sakata Eio
Meijin-Honinbo 4-2. Won title eight times altogether. Won 23rd
Honinbo Title in 1965, becoming second Meijin-Honinbo in history.
Held title five times. Winner 15th Tengen Title, 1989, defending
it in 1990-93. Winner 3rd Fujitsu Cup,1990; 13th 10 Dan, 1975;
21st Oza, 1973; Pro Best Ten, NHK Cup and Haya-go titles three
times each; Kakusei once.
Winner of Oteai top section twice. Winner of Kisei 9 Dan Division
four times, All Dan section once. Winner of KIDO magazine "Most
Outstanding Player" award three times, Shusai Award five times.
1993 record: 21 wins, 21 losses, 1 no decision.
Lives in Tokyo, Japan.
