Playoff

O Rissei won the playoff match against O Meien with 1.5 point thus acquiring the right to challenge title holder Cho Chikun for the 53rd Honinbo Title. The best-of-seven series between O Rissei and title holder Cho Chikun will start off on May 21-22 in Shanghai, China. Will Cho Chikun be able to become Honinbo for the 10th consecutive time and thus beating Takagawa Shukaku's long standing record of 9 consecutive wins in the period 1952-1960?
