Selecting regions

Including edges

While searching GoBase will find translated, rotated, mirrored and color exchanged occurences of your search pattern. Regions can restrict translations: including an edge limits the search to occurences of the shape along the edges. Including a corner restricts matches to a corner.

Selection size

The region you specify for a search determines the part of the board that has to match entirely in the game collection. Thus while enlarging the region the search will become more and more restrictive resulting in less but better matching games:

Small region Medium region Large region

Small region: 83 hits Medium: 4 hits Large: 1 hit

Note We included the edges in the search region to prevent that GoBase would also have returned games with the shape somewhere on the middle of the board which is not what we want for this particular search.
