Kobayashi Koichi, Born Sept. 10, 1952 in Asahikawa, Hokkaido.
Married to Okada Shigeyo in 1998.
Was married to Kobayashi Reiko, 6 dan until she died in 1996.
First major title: 2nd Tengen Title, 1977. Next, 22nd 10 Dan
Title, 1984 (retained a total of 3 straight years). 10th Meijin
Title, 11th Tengen Title, 1985. 10th Kisei Title, 33rd NHK Cup,
1986. Defended Kisei Title 5 straight years to earn Honorary
Kisei status, then extended record to 8 years. In 1993, defended
Meijin and Gosei Titles for sixth straight year.
Winner of Oteai top section once. Shinjin O twice. Winner
Haya-go, Prime Minister's Cup three times. Winner of KIDO
magazine "Most Outstanding Player" award and Shusai Award seven
times. 1993 record: 15 wins, 21 losses.
Lives in Tokyo, Japan.
