GoBase SearchGoBase, a Go database program was born out of the idea that especially for amateurs it is useful to study openings (jungsuk and posuk, or joseki and fuseki) in the context of real-world examples. So Geert-Jan van Opdorp (my associate) and me designed the algorithm to find occurrences of shapes in collections of electronic records of Go games. This work was done on an Atari-ST with a 20MB of hard disk and 4MB of memory.
Let me give an example of such a GoBase pattern search: |
