Hello, this is Catalin Taranu, 5p, welcome to my homepage. You will find my biography, the recent games I played and the teaching facilities I offer to Go players from all over the world.

If you're interested in my biography please read my own account of my Go career. Also of interest is the extensive interview with Go reporter Pieter Mioch. It features my opinion on Go, teaching and other aspects related to the game. Besides it contains some commented games I played in Japanese tournaments.

I offer various teaching facilities, both online teaching games as offline by E-mail for more extensive analysis of your games. I play on IGS and KGS and teach both in English and Japanese.

Here is an overview of the possibilities:

Teaching games

We make an appointment on either IGS or KGS and play a game with any handicap you like. When the game is finished we go over the game and I give comments on your moves and answer any questions you have about the game.

Lessons need to be arranged in advance. Basically the online teaching hours are from noon till 10pm Japanese time which corresponds to 4am-2pm European time and 10pm-8am EST. But my hours are very flexible and definite teaching hours will always be arranged on a case by case basis.

So for a lesson of 4 hours you are charged: 75 + 30 + 30 = USD 135,=

E-mail analysis

You send me by E-mail the game you would like to have analysed in SGF format. I add my comments to the game and sent back the analysed game to you. E-mail analysis usually will take 1-2 weeks to finish, partly depending on my tournament schedule in Japan.

Payment

Payment arrangements will always be made on a personal basis. When you send me an E-mail to arrange the lessons I will let you know the prefered methods of payment.
