The Ricoh Cup is a knockout tournament.

The number of players changed over the years. The first edition featured 8 invited players. The next year this number doubled to 16. The third edition featured 54 players.
Later editions featured 48 players, a 32 player 1st knockout round with 16 new players flowing in in the 2nd round.

The Ricoh Cup (also called Liguang Cup) is denoted with a first prize of 80,000.= Yuan (about $9700).
