Introduction

The GLOBIS Cup World Go U-20 is an international tournament for young players that was introduced in 2014 and organised by the Nihon Ki-in. It is named after the Japanese university and the corporation sponsoring it.

Participants:
Six from Japan, three from Korea, three from China, one from Taiwan, one from Europe, one from America, one from Oceania.

Tournament format:

  • Even games, white receives 6.5 komi.
  • Time Allotment: 30 seconds per move, plus 10 periods of extra thinking time, 1 minute each (NHK style).
  • Being late to the event results in immediate forfeit of the game.

Prizes:

  1. Grand Champion: 3 million yen (about EUR 25.000,=)
  2. Runner-up: 500,000 yen
  3. 3rd place: 200,000 yen
