interesting middle and end game Takao finished
just before the challenger Cho U, Gosei.
The title holder still is facing kadoban but
the win will have given him confidence.

numbers against Xie Yimin, two games with the smallest possible
margin.

The "XXVIII. Berliner Kranich" will be held from the 23rd to 25th of November
in Berlin, Germany. It is an international Go tournament and one of the
largest and oldest in Germany. There will be seminars, a seller with Go
material, original food from Japanese women and many more.

Ding Wei will challenge Gu Li for the 20th Mingren title.
Ding beat Kong Jie in the final of the challenger tournament. | |
10-11 12th GS Caltex Cup |
|
An impressive performance by Park YoungHoon in the
12th GS Caltex Cup league. By winning all his games
Park became the undisputable challenger of current
champion Lee SeDol.
In a best-of-five match they will decide the new
title holder. | |

best-of-three semi's. It's two from China against two
from Korea for two places in the final.

Feng-Hsiung Hsu, developer of Deep Blue says:
"My gut feeling is that with some optimization a machine that can
search a trillion positions per second would be enough to play Go at
the very highest level. [...]
At Microsoft Research Asia we are seeding
university efforts in China with the goal of solving some of the basic
problems. Whether these efforts lead to a world-champion Go machine in
the next decade remains to be seen. I certainly wouldn't bet against
it."
