The Amsterdam tournament, also Fujitsu Grand Prix d'Europe tournament takes place every year during Ascention day. This year the tournament is scheduled from May 13th through May 16th 1999.

Tournament Formula

It's a Macmahon tournament with 6 rounds and 1½ hour thinking time per player, 10 stones in 5 minutes byo-yomi and 5½ komi.

Special Events

On Saturday a children tournament on 13x13 with handicap. Participation is free and we have prizes for all participants.

Saturday evening a Pair-Go Tournament with three rounds. First prize is is Dfl. 200,= and second prize Dfl. 100,= (both per team).

Friday evening and Saturday evening a lightning tournament, 12 minutes per player, no byo yomi and full handicap. Friday is the preliminary in groups of 5 to 6 players and Saturday the final with the top 16 (or 32) players. First prize is Dfl. 200,=, second prize Dfl. 100,= and third prize Dfl. 50,=.

Those who think a four days tournament is too long might want to participate on Saturday in the special one-day rapid tournament over 4 (or 5) rounds, 30 minutes per game and no byo yomi. Registration fee is Dfl. 10,= and all registration fee will be used as prize money.

Players with 5 or 6 wins get a money prize.
Players with 4 wins get a Go book.
Finally, an extra prize is given to the best 3 dan player(s).

Prizes are shared by players with the same Macmahon score. The Macmahon bar is 4 dan.

Subscription fee is for 10 kyu and stronger: Dfl. 50,= (after April 22nd), Dfl. 40,= (before April 22nd) and for players weaker than 10 kyu or younger than 18: Dfl. 25,=.
