From the Tools menu select Internet Options. This will present the following dialog:

From the Temporary Internet files section select the Settings... option. This will bring up the following dialog:

The recommended option is indicated: Every time you start Internet Explorer. This will check if documents on the network have been modified since you last accessed them but only once per session.
