rating list based on the performances of their professionals.
The top-three is as can be expected.
Highest female professional is Park JiEun.
Remarkable is the large drop in rating over
the first 50 players
and the seemingly unrelated quantities of rank
and rating. |

Kobayashi Satoru beats Yamashita Keigo in the challenger playoff
of the 30th Meijin league. Both had a score of 7-1 in the league.
Kobayashi will now face title holder Cho U in the best-of seven
title match. It's Kobayashi's first attempt to become Meijin.
He's not completely unfamiliar with major title matches having
played the Kisei final three times and winning it in his first
attempt, back in 1995. | |

The 49th European Go Championships were won by Alexandr Dinerstein from
Russia with a score of 8 out of 10. The winner of last year, Yoon Kwang-sun
from Korea, was not entered in the top-32 group so despite having the same
score as the winner he ended 9th, being short of McMahon points.
Other noteworthy facts: 10 Koreans and 3 Russians in the top-15. Highest
ending European amateur: Ilja Shikshin from Russia (8th). Highest ending
female competitor: Zhao Pei from Germany (13th). | |
